General Informatics LLC transitions to new contract – consulting in Portugal, Albania, Ohio

General Informatics LLC has won a subcontract to advise the Ministry of Education of Albania on higher education reform. The project, funded by the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, and the Council of Europe Development Bank, extends through summer 2011. General Informatics will train executives of Albania’s several public universities in tertiary education finance, as these universities move to greater autonomy under Albania’s 2007 “new law” for higher education.

In May, General Informatics will complete work on a contract with the US Environmental Protection Agency for the launch of a water technology industry cluster in the tri-state Cincinnati, Ohio, metropolitan area. EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, and Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Karen Mills announced that direct investments made in southern Ohio, southern Indiana, and northern Kentucky “will encourage continued growth, while positioning our nation to lead the way in a new market of environmental technologies.” The two Administrators joint press release is at http://yosemite.epa.gov/opa/admpress.nsf/d0cf6618525a9efb85257359003fb69d/5c6e98e36238c0898525781c005b7b73!OpenDocument.

General Informatics also launches its third year of consultation for the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. G.I. personnel will be in Lisbon this summer helping the Fundação evaluate its yearly round of research proposals from Portuguese scientists.
